Canada's Blue Jays Secure World Series Showdown With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their maiden championship series after 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the decisive game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Trailing three runs to one, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, propelling the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, our country," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."

George Springer has now slugged 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I want up in that situation except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a World Series.

Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" after his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance in the campaign.

"This is a unique group. Sadly that we ended up on the losing end of this game," he remarked.

Toronto secured the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
