Stateside performer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per news outlets.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a statement.
They added that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".
A Prolific TV Career
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He starred as Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, playing a party host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of well-known programs, such as:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- "House"
He was most recognized for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His film credits include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored many learners over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, peer actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared online.
The actor is remembered by his wife Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
