Los Angeles Experiences Unprecedented Heat Just One Week After Severe Winter Weather.
Following a week of heavy downpours that resulted in floodwaters across parts of the city, Los Angeles is now grappling with abnormally high conditions for this time of year.
Record-Shattering Temperatures
On Friday midday, the temperature climbed to 91°F (33°C) in downtown Los Angeles, as reported by weather officials. This exceeds the previous daily record for this date, which was 31 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) and was recorded in 2025.
"Unusually high temperatures" were noted on forecast maps for the region.
Public Health Advisories
The weather service cautioned that Friday's weather posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for vulnerable populations. Their guidance featured:
- Drinking plenty of fluids.
- Limiting outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Never leaving anyone unattended in a hot car.
A Sharp Reversal
This sharp rise in mercury arrives just after a powerful storm system that struck the state last week. That event brought thunderstorms, high winds, and heavy snow to the mountains, triggering flash flood warnings for countless residents.

Weekend Outlook
The outlook suggests some relief is coming. The heat were expected to drop to around 16 degrees Celsius (61 Fahrenheit) in the city by overnight.
Additional areas that hit ninety degrees were Burbank, Woodland Hills, and Long Beach. Elsewhere, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were forecast to experience the upper eighties.
Over Saturday and Sunday, central Los Angeles can see weather in the 80s, with mid-70s temperatures expected for the following week.
