Trump Invites Loved Ones of Attacked Guard Personnel to White House

Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Devastating Shooting

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The president said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Support

Attendees assembled over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in the capital.

Honoring the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of her former high school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”

Service plans for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Steps and Policy Revisions

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The incident led the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and cease issuing visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi informed the program that she aimed to speak to the family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” the governor told the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
